VietNamNet Bridge – After falling twice with a total height of nearly 100 meters, Nguyen Tai Quyen, 27, still survives after one day in the forest of Yen Tu in Quang Ninh province.



Rescue workers found out unconscious Quyen over a day after the accident, at 3pm, December 14. The man was in an abyss of nearly 100m.

The lucky man comes from Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi. He was brought to the Vietnam –Sweden Hospital in Uong Bi town, Quang Ninh province in the morning of the following day in serious condition.

According to doctors, the victim broke the collarbone and a spinal vertebra and also suffered internal injuries in several organs which led to kidney failure and elevated liver enzymes. His eyes were also bruised and his cheek was scratched.



Quyen is being treated for liver and kidneys problems and will undergo a spine surgery today, December 19.

This is the first time a victim is still alive after falling from the Yen Tu Mountain.

Quyen has regained his senses in the hospital. He told reporters that at around 3pm of December 13, he climbed over the barrier to take some photos on the peak of Yen Tu Mountain. He took a false step and fell down to a large bush and then to another cliff.

Quyen said after the second fall, he was too painful and exhausted to shout for help or move. He had to lie on the cliff as it turned dark and cold, hoping that someone could find him.

On the next day, the owner of the Luc Luot boarding house where Quyen stayed informed the management board of the Yen Tu relic site, which later sent out a rescue team to look for him for several hours and finally found at around 3pm.

He was then transported from Quang Ninh to Hanoi’s Vietnam-Germany Hospital.
