The districts of Thach Thach, Quoc Oai, Chuong My, Nam Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Ha Dong, Thanh Xuan and Hoang Mai have been affected the most.

Over the past three weeks, thousands of households in Hoai Duc District have been struggling with water shortages

Nguyen Ich Thin, vice chairman of Duc Thuong Commune, said that the lack of water has hit the locality for two weeks. Initially, Western Hanoi Water Supply Company reported that water supplies would be suspended for just a few days, but now, the problem has still been ongoing.

Many households have used water pumps, but due to weak water pressure, the pumps often face technical problems.

At present, the company only ensures around 22,000 cubic metres of water per day compared to the demand of up to 28,000 cubic metres.

The water source for the western area of Hanoi is the Song Hong Water Plant, but the project is behind schedule.

Hanoi Department of Finance recently proposed increasing water prices from July.
