The National Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB) has just announced a new Chairwoman of the Board of Directors – Bui Thi Thanh Huong.

Huong is a familiar name in the Vietnamese banking and financial industry with more than 20 years of experience in the field of auditing - banking - finance. She used to be Deputy General Director in charge of finance - strategy of Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank (TPB); Deputy Director in charge of finance/chief accountant of the Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SSB). In 2018, after leaving TPB, Huong took the position of CEO of Sun Group.
The appointment of Huong as its Chairwoman is considered a new step at NCB after the restructuring period. Over the past year, NVB's share price has increased 2.5 times to its current level. NVB was also strongly bought by foreign investors in the first months of 2021 on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX).
The National Commercial Bank (NCB) was formerly known as Nam Viet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Navibank), and earlier Song Kien Rural Commercial Joint Stock Bank. Navibank changed its name to National Commercial Joint Stock Bank from January 22, 2014.

Tran Thi Thu Hang, CEO of Sunshine Group, has become the youngest leader in the banking industry after taking the post of President of KienLongBank.
Hang was born in 1985, holds a Master's degree in Finance and Banking from the National Economics University. She is the CEO of Sunshine Group and Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of SIPT Investment JSC.
Earlier, she worked as the head of large corporate customer department at LienVietPostBank, and the director of high-level corporate customer relations at Maritime Bank (MSB).
Over the past two years, Hang has held important positions such as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Sunshine Homes JSC, General Director of Sunshine Tech Commercial Investment JSC, Director of Sunshine AM JSC, and Director of Sunshine Sky Villa JSC.
In February 2021, Hang joined KienLongBank's Board of Directors as Vice Chairwoman.
'Boss Thuy' joins LienVietPostBank

In early April, the State Bank of Vietnam issued an official letter approving LienVietPostBank's proposal to elect Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy as a member of the Board of Directors for the 2018-2023 term.
The relationship between Thuy and LienVietPostBank was also mentioned after this bank signed a contract to lease six floors of the Thai Holdings Tower at 210 Tran Quang Khai, Hanoi for five years. This contract is worth up to 424 billion VND. The bank's head office was also moved to the Thai Holdings Tower, which belongs to Thuy.
Thuy is the founder and holds 24.6% in Thaiholdings, the corporation that owns many "golden land plots” in Hanoi. Before joining LienVietPostBank, Thuy resigned as chairman of Thaiholdings.
In early July, Thaiholdings purchased 20 million shares of LienVietPostBank, equivalent to 1.86% of capital in this bank. Thuy personally increased his ownership in this bank to 2.85%, with 30.58 million shares. Thuy’s younger brother Nguyen Xuan Thuy also holds 1.62 million shares of LienVietPostBank (0.15%).

Viet Nam Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Vietbank) has a new chairman for the 2021-2025 term - Duong Nhat Nguyen – who was elected at the 2021 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in April.
Nguyen, born in 1983, is the eldest son of the owners of Hoa Lam Group - Duong Ngoc Hoa and Tran Thi Lam. Nguyen holds a master's degree in business administration from DeVry University (USA) and has over 15 years of experience in business and finance - banking.
Nguyen owns 3.05% of Vietbank's shares. Nguyen’s family holds 13.4% of Vietbank's shares and is the largest group of shareholders in the bank.
Vietbank changed its top leader within just two months. In late February, Mr. Bui Xuan Khu replaced Mr. Duong Ngoc Hoa as the Chairman of Vietbank. Khu used to be the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. After the general meeting of shareholders, Khu was no longer a member of the Board of Directors of Vietbank.
Before joining Vietbank in 2013, Nguyen held many positions at companies in his family's Hoa Lam Group. At Vietbank, Nguyen used to be the deputy general director, member of the Board of Directors, and vice chairman of the Board of Directors. Nguyen is also in charge of many big projects of Vietbank such as salary, , rebranding, digital banking, and core-banking.
