Being very disappointed with the V-League organizing board and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Kien stated that he planed to not invest in the V-League anymore like the Hoa Phat group. He revealed that at least seven football sponsors shared the same idea if VFF does not make changes next year, and at least six top clubs at V-League are ready to leave V-League to set up their own league named Super Liga.

“I did not attend the summary meeting of the 2011 football season (held in Hanoi last Thursday), but I was very interested in this event. What Mr. Kien stated about the actual situation of the V-League, the V-League organizing board, referees or the VFF is accurate,” said Vissai Ninh Binh FC’s Chair Truong.

“I’ve questioned if V-League does not change, should I leave football? I do not discuss the feasibility of Mr. Kien’s idea but it is very interesting. Ninh Binh is willing to participate in a clean and qualified football tournament,” Truong said.

Tuong’s FC was established in 2007. After three years playing at the First Division tournament, the FC has upgraded to the V-League. It ranked fourth at V-League 2011. Tuong is known as a powerful investor in football in Vietnam. He has invested millions of USD in the sports.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s Chair, Doan Nguyen Duc, said: “I entirely agreed with Kien. It is important what VFF will do after Kien raised his opinion”.

“Businesses like us spend VND60-80 billion ($3-4 million) in football annually. On average, each match is worth several billion dong (hundreds of USD). A poor referee can destroy a match. If Vietnamese referees are unqualified, we should hire foreign referees. FCs are willing to pay more to have clean games. If VFF does not change, more football sponsors will leave,” he added.

Duc also praised Kien’s idea of the Super Liga, saying that it may be the exit for FCs. “If this tournament is held, I believe that it will attract many teams because everybody wants clean and attractive football.”

Senior coach Le Thuy Hai supported Kien’s opinion because “It exposes the real situation of Vietnam’s football.”

“It is difficult to organize Super Liga but this idea is very good. It shows the wish for a good, fair football tournament of all true football lovers. I strongly support this idea,” Hai said.
