Many more domestic, international air services to be reopened

Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways are set to resume more domestic and international air routes, add flights and launch new services to meet the rising travel demand as the country will fully reopen tourism on March 15.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will restart five routes connecting Phu Quoc with Vinh, Haiphong, Can Tho, Dalat and Thanh Hoa on March 27, with four weekly flights.

The airline will resume the Danang-Vinh service in early June with three weekly flights, the local media reported.

On March 2, the carrier resumed the Danang-Phu Quoc service.

Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air is prepared to resume the international route linking Danang City and Bangkok in Thailand on March 27, while having doubled the frequency of the HCMC-Bangkok run to six weekly flights.

Another local airline, Bamboo Airways, launched a regular international air route linking Hanoi and Frankfurt, Germany on February 25. The carrier will open the Hanoi-London air service on March 22, with two flights per week.

In addition, the airline is planning to operate some other air services to Europe, such as the HCMC-Frankfurt, Hanoi/HCMC-Berlin and Hanoi/HCMC-Munich routes.

Int’l air routes to 20 countries, territories reopened

Vietnam has so far reopened air routes to 20 countries and territories, compared to 28 in the 2019 winter flight schedule before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, a transport official has said.
