VietNamNet Bridge – Many young people have booked tours to islands and beaches, which are not very popular, for the upcoming National Day holiday (September 2).

Many topics on travel consultation have been opened on the Internet, where members share useful information about these destinations, such as Quan Lan, Co To and Tra Co in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, Hai Hoa in the central province of Thanh Hoa and other sites in Phu Yen, Quy Nhon, Quang Ngai provinces.

These are quiet places, where the tourism industry is not very developed, but many people like this. They want to discover unpopular destinations and not be cheated by service providers.

However, the most important reason is showing their patriotism through traveling to the country’s islands and beaches on the National Day.

“It is so interesting to stand on an island or a beach to listen to the National Anthem on the National Day. I will feel myself to love my country more,” on wrote on a tourism forum.

Hoang Anh, a student from the Institute for Journalism, wrote on ttvnol forum: “In region years, I used to travel to the northwestern region but this year, I decide to open this topic to call for members to go to Ly Son Island. Because once I read the poem “The fatherland looked from the sea” by Nguyen Viet Chien, I have desired to go there once to look towards the mainland from the sea to be able to feel the same way with the poet – the country as part of my flesh and blood.”

Another member of ttvnol shared: “Someone thinks that patriotism means the responsibility of each citizen to the fate of their nation. But I think that we should not think of such great things. Patriotism can begin from our trips, which help us to feel closer to the country. Patriotism will natural emerge, without great statements.”

Many families also choose islands and beaches as their destinations for the September 2 holiday, because the weather is now cooler. On webtretho, the most popular online forum for women in Vietnam, the September 2 tour is a hot topic. Most members choose beaches where they can travel to by bus because they will have only three days. Those in Hanoi prefer Co To, Quan Lan, Thien Cam and Hai Hoa in Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa provinces.

Some parents want their children to understand patriotism through trips. A six grader from the Marie Curie Secondary School in Hanoi wrote: “My mum will take me to Ly Son Island this September 2 holiday. She said I would see the history of our homeland there. Perhaps, this would be my memorable National Day. When I return home, I can tell my friends about the hometown of the Hoang Sa Flotilla and famous Ly Son garlics.”

Vice chief of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNAT), Nguyen Manh Cuong said that sea tourism will be the key direction of the tourism sector in the upcoming years. VNAT aims to welcome one million visitors from cruise ships by 2015.

With over 3,000km of coast, many beautiful beaches, bays and islands, Vietnam has great advantage for sea tourism.
