Chef Martin Yan makes "banh xeo" (rice cake).

From September 6, the English version of the series "Martin Yan-Taste of Vietnam" will be aired on KQED, PBS and APT channels in the US.

Chef Martin Yan, also known for his nickname Yan Can Cook, said: "I've done thousands of TV shows in the U.S. but this is the first time they have accepted a 26-episode series about the cuisine and the country of Vietnam, produced by Vietnamese. I hope that after the film comes to the audiences in North America, Vietnam will be the first choice of US travelers and the world when they think of destinations in Southeast Asia".

In 2012, Martin Yan and the first runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam Hoang My traveled across Vietnam to film the culture and special cuisines of each region. In each episode, Martin Yan served as the host who told the story of his experience.

Martin Yan said that completing this TV show is the big dream of his life. Coming to Vietnam 15 years ago, the American chef cherished the dream of  making a trans-Vietnam journey to learn about Vietnamese food and create new menus based on rich, delicious specialties.

Ms. Thach Thi Kim Ngan, executive producer, said: "To bring the film to the American audience, it took us three years of negotiations with the US partners. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese film-makers to prove to the world that they are capable of making television works of international standards."

The producer spent $1.5 million to produce 26 episodes.

"Martin Yan-Taste of Vietnam" was produced in 2012 and broadcasted on HTV7 channel in 2013.

After the success of this series, another $1.5 million project has begun, the "Discover Vietnam with Robert Danhi" series.

In the new series, America chef - photographer Robert Danhi made many trips across Vietnam to explore the hidden beauty of the country. The series will be aired on HCMC Television from July 18.

The producer is also in the process of negotiation with foreign partners to bring this series to international audience.
