The selected artworks, curated by Pham Binh Chuong, are on display at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum from August 1st to 8th.

Art researcher Trang Thanh Hien remarked that color is a strong point in Do Huu Khoi's works. The vibrant contrasting hues make his paintings quite captivating.

"Not overly concerned with technique, composition, or character drawing, everything in Khoi's paintings seems naturally unrefined and unforced. This is especially true in his self-portraits at different ages, whether young or old, contemplative or cheerful. The same goes for his paintings of individual or paired characters; the interaction between them and the space creates an inherently interesting dialogue," noted art researcher Trang Thanh Hien.

Both artists are influenced to some extent by Impressionism, yet each has found their own unique mode of expression, where emotion plays a crucial role in shaping their individuality.

Artist Pham Van Trong, on the other hand, focuses on a systematic approach to painting techniques, such as creating backgrounds, textures, and depicting spatial depth. "Nevertheless, above all this mastery, it is emotion that is crucial in guiding his art, as well as Huu Khoi's, to reach its intended destination," remarked art researcher Trang Thanh Hien.

Visitors to the exhibition will observe that without emotion, techniques or materials alone cannot create truly resonant paintings. The emotions in the works of Do Huu Khoi and Pham Van Trong seem pure and clear amidst a bustling, rational society. In their paintings, both artists reconnect, forming a new bond through their love for painting.

Notably, 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the artworks will be donated by the two artists to the Highland Girls Fund, aiming to provide clean toilets and living supplies for female students in highland areas.

Do Huu Khoi, born in 1975, is a journalist currently working at VietNamNet. His paintings are part of private collections both domestically and internationally.

Pham Van Trong, born in 1978, graduated from Hải Dương College of Education in 2000. He has participated in numerous selected group and solo exhibitions in recent years.
