VietNamNet Bridge – Among 107 top graduates who were rewarded by the Hanoi Youth Union last week, Park Young Su is the most famous because he is a Korean student and he has a great love for Vietnam.

With the over-all mark for the entire course of 3.71/4, Park Young Su, born in 1986, is the excellent student of the Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture faculty of the Hanoi National University.
Asking him what he thinks about Vietnam and Vietnamese people? He said: “Vietnam is very beautiful but the most impressive thing is Vietnamese people. They are very friendly and always love and help each other.”
Park Young Su decided to stay in Vietnam after his graduation. After five years learning Vietnamese, Park can speak smoothly, nearly like a native speaker.
Park said five years ago, when he was studying at a university in his country, he watched a program on television, which talked about Vietnam’s spirit of struggling to protect peace and to build a better life today. Park was convened by the program and decided to go to Vietnam.
After going to Vietnam, he fell in love with the country. He though that he had to learn Vietnamese language to understand Vietnamese people and Vietnamese culture. He became a student of the Vietnamese language faculty of the Hanoi National University.
Thanks to the assistance of his Vietnamese friends and his great effort, Park quickly got familiar with the life in Vietnam.
He gradually learned about Hanoi and other provinces and cities in Vietnam. At present, Park knows Hanoi like the back of his hand.
However, the weather in Vietnam was a big challenge for him. He said Vietnam has four seasons like his country but humidity was higher. He felt inconvenient during his early time in Vietnam.
In the winter, the weather was dull so Park missed his family very much, especially whenever his mother called him on the phone. But he was determined to stay in Vietnam to discover interesting things in this country.
Park said Vietnamese language was difficult to learn because of its accents. He used to make wrong pronunciations. He practiced a lot by writing down Vietnamese words and spoke them out loud, talked a lot with Vietnamese and watch Vietnamese television.
The more he studied Vietnamese and learned about Vietnam, the bigger his love is for this country. He admired Vietnamese people’s will and energy. He wanted to stay and work in Vietnam.
Park is the leader of the Association of South Korean Students in Hanoi. He held many charity visits to Vietnam’s rural areas for the association members. Each trip left unforgettable memory on Park.
Park is working for Lock&Lock in Vietnam.
“My parent asked me to come home but I love and I want to stay in Vietnam. I’m trying to persuade my parent to go to Vietnam with me. I wish to marry a Vietnamese woman so Vietnam will be a real part of mine,” Park said.
