Professional and amateur athletes will compete in races of five km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km, said a representative of the Hau Giang administration, co-organiser of the race.

The organising board also shared that over the past five years the Mekong Delta Marathon has affirmed its position as a prestigious running event, adhering to international ation criteria in professional organisation and contributing to promoting the sporting movement in the Mekong Delta region.

It also aims to introduce the people and natural landscapes of the region in general and Hau Giang in particular, thereby showcasing both the local tourism potential and typical products to international friends.

At the event, the organisers also announced that a female runner who records the best performance or who breaks the marathon record will be sent to one of the six prestigious marathons in the World Marathon Majors for competition.
