Although the team added three points, they didn’t compete in any match at a global level; therefore they remained at the same position.

In the Southeast Asian region, Viet Nam ranked third, behind the Philippines (world No 124) and Thailand (world No 127).

They were followed by Malaysia (No 161), Singapore (No 163), Indonesia (No 167) and Myanmar who dropped 13 steps to No 172.

Iran topped the Asian rankings at No 33; followed by South Korea, No 40; and Japan, No 51.

The world’s top 10 were unchanged. Argentina sat atop the world rankings, followed by Brazil and Germany.

On March 22, Viet Nam will play a friendly match with Chinese Taipei at Hang Day Stadium in Ha Noi. They will then compete with Afghanistan in the opening match of Group C at a neutral stadium — Republican Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajiskistan — on March 28.

The results of these matches will affect Viet Nam’s rankings next month.
