This is a small, humble book but contains an infinitely compassionate heart and great thoughts of a great man: HO CHI MINH.
The book, entitled "One person, one path and one history: Ho Chi Minh – Letters to America," is a combination of letters from President Ho Chi Minh to the American people, including students, women, ordinary people, journalists, officers, senators, Foreign Ministers and Presidents. Regardless of the circumstances in history, to whomever they were sent, and for whatever reason, the letters contain a noble humanistic spirit, a desire for peace, and a will to fight for independence and freedom and national pride.
The first letter was written on June 18, 1919 in Paris, France under the name Nguyen Ai Quoc, sent to the US Secretary of State. The last letter was written on August 25, 1969 to President Richard Nixon, seven days before President Ho Chi Minh passed away.
The book was designed by photographer Duong Minh Long. The cover of the book's box is made of blue-glazed ceramics made by Hue artisans. The box and the book are handmade from wood and leather.
Inside the box is the book with letters and related images taken from many sources such as the Ho Chi Minh Institute, the Archives of the Party Central Committee's Office, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nhan Dan Newspaper, United States - Vietnam Relations 1945-1967. U.S. government printing office, Washington, 1971…
Many portraits of President Ho Chi Minh in this book were taken by Western photographers and journalists.
Time passes with many events and changes in Vietnam as well as in the world. But the love of the Fatherland, the love of humanity, the desire for freedom and the unshakable will for freedom of a person representing his people have not changed and will remain unchanged forever. That is the great message from the letters in this book.
