The Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) has submitted a proposal to the Hanoi People's Committee outlining plans for the commercial launch of the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Station metro line on the morning of August 9.
Based on the proposed program, the MRB recommends that the city's People's Committee assign responsibilities to relevant agencies and departments.
Specifically, the Hanoi Department of Transport is tasked with directing the Traffic Inspectorate to coordinate with traffic police and related units to organize traffic flow during the site preparation (August 7 and 8) and the commercial launch ceremony (August 9).
Plans include directing traffic around the event area, coordinating with relevant districts to arrange venues, parking, and guiding vehicle access to and from the ceremony site.
The People's Committees of Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Ba Dinh, and Dong Da districts are responsible for cleaning and ensuring environmental sanitation and coordinating to maintain security and traffic order during the event.
According to the MRB, the completion and commissioning of the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Station urban railway line is an important event that has captured public attention. It is expected to instill confidence in investors regarding the potential of Hanoi's transportation infrastructure and attract investment for subsequent projects.
The urban railway line No. 3 project, Nhon - Hanoi Station section, spans 12.5 kilometers, with 8 elevated stations and 4 underground stations. The Nhon - Cau Giay elevated section is 8.5 kilometers, while the Cau Giay - Hanoi Station underground section is 4 kilometers.
The route begins at Nhon, follows National Highway 32, passes Cau Dien, Mai Dich, intersects with Ring Road 3, continues to Cau Giay (intersects with Ring Road 2), then to Kim Ma, Cat Linh, Quoc Tu Giam, and ends at Hanoi Station (on Tran Hung Dao Street).
The project commenced in 2009. Initially, the elevated railway was scheduled for completion in 2015, but after numerous delays, the entire line is now expected to be completed by 2027. Notably, the elevated section has missed its launch date multiple times.
