VietNamNet Bridge – Top Vietnam’s badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh was unexpectedly beaten by Indian rival Ajay Jayaram in his third match for Pune Pistons club in India’s first badminton league (IBL) tournament on August 19.
His numerous errors and unsuccessful defense against Jayaram’s strong smashes led to his 19-21 and 8-21 defeat after only 40 minutes of competition.
This was his second time he lost Indian player after he was defeated by Sai Praneeth in his opening match five days earlier.
Minh’s poor performance forced his teammates to exert all-out efforts in the men’s and women’s singles and doubles events to maintain their leading position in the tournament.
