Top Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh has moved down a notch to rank 12th in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

This was mainly due to his loss to Danish rival Hans Kristian Vittinghus at the 1/16 round of the Badminton Swiss Open in mid-March and earned only 2,700 points to add to the a total of 52,574.3088 points.

On March 24, Minh and his team mates attended the Asiata Cup in Malaysia and Indonesia. The Vietnamese team lost to Indonesia 0-3 and Malaysia Leopards 1-2.

With two losses, Vietnam was disqualified from the tournament and will have to play with Singapore to compete for 3rd place.

From April 3-8, Minh will take part in the 2012 Yonex Australian Badminton Open. Minh is seeded No. 4 at the tournament and will face underdog Nelson Oon from the host country.

In 2009, Minh won the glory over world No.1 Lee Chong Wei, and one year later, he was crowed at a tournament after defeating Yogendran Krishnan from Malaysia 2-0.
