“Minions & Monsters,” the animated blockbuster featuring Tran Thanh in its Vietnamese voice cast, remains firmly in third place at the Vietnamese box office and has now surpassed VND150 billion (about $5.7 million) in revenue after more than three weeks in theaters.

The rankings of the three hottest films in Vietnamese cinemas remained unchanged over the weekend from the previous week. The franchise’s 29th feature film, “Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway,” officially opened on July 24 but had already generated strong revenue from preview screenings and advance ticket sales. According to Box Office Vietnam, the film had earned VND90 billion in Vietnamese theaters by the end of July 26.

“The Odyssey” remained a major draw in its second week of release and continued to attract attention on Threads, where audiences showered the film with praise. The blockbuster ranked second at the box office over the weekend, with revenue exceeding VND60 billion after 10 days in Vietnamese theaters.

Meanwhile, Hollywood animation “Minions & Monsters,” featuring Tran Thanh in the Vietnamese voice cast, held firmly onto third place at the box office and has now crossed the VND150 billion mark in Vietnam.

Ranking fourth was Vietnamese historical war film “Sound Across the Ocean,” which opened over the weekend. The film, however, recorded modest revenue of just over VND3 billion after three days in theaters. It is also the first state-funded Vietnamese film to receive a commercial theatrical release under the new mechanism.

Thai horror film “Kijsada Paradise,” which also opened over the weekend, rounded out the top five with VND3 billion in box office revenue.

Meanwhile, “Mesdames Thanh Sac,” starring Thanh Hang, has left theaters with total revenue of VND16.6 billion. Korean-Vietnamese co-production “Me Oi, Ve Nha,” featuring Hoang Yen Chibi, opened on July 10 but has sold almost no tickets and has so far grossed less than VND1 billion, according to Box Office Vietnam.

The Vietnamese box office is expected to remain lively next weekend, with the rankings likely to shift following the arrival of blockbuster “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
