Thang led a team of officials from the ministry to look into preparations of transport enterprises at coach stations in HCMC.

According to Truong Thanh Hai, deputy director of Mien Dong Coach Station, 57 transport enterprises at the station in Binh Thanh District have not reduced their charges.

Thang said fuel retail prices have dipped but some enterprises have not reduced charges. Therefore, authorities should force them to revise down fares and inspect their operations.

“It is necessary to call for passengers to boycott those transport firms which have not lowered fares and we should let people know how higher they have to pay for these enterprises,” Thang said. “Besides, ticket surcharges should be closely monitored.”

Thang insisted that competent agencies should publicize fares, the number of tickets and the list of enterprises which have not lowered charges.

Besides, Thang requested Mien Dong Coach Station to urgently work with Phuong Trang Co. to resolve the jostling situation among buyers of Tet tickets and consider selling electronic tickets.
