The Prime Minister has issued a directive on elections for deputies to the National Assembly and the People’s Council in the 2016-2021 tenure, urging relevant ministries and agencies to well prepare for the country’s major event.
The elections, which will be conducted on May 22, 2016 according to Resolution No.105/2015/QH13 promulgated by the National Assembly on November 25, 2015, are of political significance.
The PM directed the Ministry of Information and Communications to work with relevant agencies to disseminate the significant meaning of the elections, the right of to become a candidate, and the right to vote to people from all social strata, as well as the basic contents of the Law on Organisation of the National Assembly, Law on Organisation of Local Governments, and Law on Elections of Deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Council.
The Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Public Security are responsible for building plans and measures to ensure political and social security and order.
The Government Inspectorate was tasked with coordinating with relevant agencies to guide asset declarations for nominees to the National Assembly and People’s Council following the direction of the National Election Council and the NA Standing Committee, while promptly addressing any public complaints and denouncements ahead, during and after the elections.
The Ministry of Home Affairs was asked to investigate the implementation of legal regulations at the National Election Council, the NA Standing Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, the Government and the Prime Minister.
People’s Committees at all levels are due to launch elections following the direction of the Politbureau and National Election Council under the guidance of the NA Standing Committee, the VFF Central Committee, the Government and the PM, whilst ensuring the preparations for the elections run on schedule.
The PM also urged ministries, leaders of government agencies and centrally-run People’s Committees to prepare for the elections and submit their reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government Office to ensure successful elections.
