VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Construction has asked the Government Office to verify the Ministry of Defense’s proposal to build a golf course on 176 hectares of the Mieu Mon shooting rifle range in Hanoi.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the Mieu Mon golf course does not appear in both the Vietnam’s golf course construction plan to 2020 and the Hanoi development plan to 2030 and the vision to 2050, which were approved by the government.

The Ministry of Construction said that to build a golf course in Mieu Mon, the Ministry of Defense must have the approval of the Prime Minister.

Also according to the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Defense is building a golf course in Hanoi’s Gia Lam Airport and HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The Ministry of Construction asked the Ministry of Defense to make clear the demand and necessity for building one more golf course in Hanoi.

According to the national golf course construction plan to 2020, Vietnam will have 89 golf courses, mainly located in the central region. However, a survey by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment shows that there are 117 golf course projects throughout the country, including 27 projects that are not included in the approved plan, in 13 provinces.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has requested provinces to stop building these golf courses and punish investors who speculate land through golf course projects.
