On the afternoon of March 18, the Institute of Forensic Medicine conducted the autopsy in the presence of the victim’s family and thousands of people. The body was buried then.  


As being reported by VietNamNet Bridge, on the morning of March 17, a male body was found in a culvert in Quan Tien Street, Vinh Yen city, Vinh Phuc province. The victim was identified as Nguyen Tuan Anh (born in 1986, a resident of Vinh Yen city).

According to the victim’s family, the local authorities conducted forensic examinations and concluded that the victim was drunk, fell into the culvert and drowned. However, the victim’s family found several bruises on the chest and head of the victim and the dead man also lost his teeth.

In the afternoon of March 17, the family carried the coffin of the victim around Vinh Yen city’s street to protest and requested the police to clarify the cause of death.

Realizing that this is a complex case, the Ministry of Public Security has sent its investigators to Vinh Phuc.

On the afternoon of March 18, the Institute of Forensic Medicine conducted the autopsy in the presence of the victim’s family and thousands of people. The body was buried then.

At a press conference of the Vinh Phuc Police Agency on March 18, Colonel Do Van Hoang, Deputy Director of the provincial police agency said that at 22 pm on March 14, Tuan Anh drank beer with some friends, then went to a restaurant in Vinh Yen city where Tuan Anh had conflict with a group of other young men and the two sides fought each other.

That night, Tuan Anh did not return home so his family reported his missing to the police. Tuan Anh’s body was found in a canal on the morning of March 17. At that time, the victim’s family was informed of the fight between Tuan Anh and a group of men on the night of March 14.

After the police announced that Tuan Anh was dead of drowning, the family carried his coffin around the street of Vinh Yen city, asking for re-investigation of Tuan Anh’s dead.

On the afternoon of March 17, after the marching with coffin, Vinh Phuc police arrested five people who involved in the death of Tuan Anh.

At the press conference on March 18, many reporters questioned the local police about the rumor on the involvement of the son-in-law of the Vinh Phuc Province’s Chairman in the case. It is said that the daughter of the Vinh Phuc Province’s Chairman and her husband were present at the restaurant at the time of the fight between Tuan Anh and some other men.

Colonel Hoang said that so far there is not any evidence related to the son-in-law of the Vinh Phuc Province’s Chairman.

Colonel Ho Sy Tien, Director of the Criminal Police Department (C45) of the Ministry of Public Security said that this is an “abnormal” case. Therefore, C45 will directly investigate it.
