It was just for increasing revenues, they said.
In the last academic year, the ministry found 11 universities exceeding the admission quotas allotted to them.
It fined them VND40 million to 60 million (US$2,050-3,075) and prohibited Dong A University of Technology in Bac Ninh Province and Phan Chau Trinh University in Quang Nam Province from admitting students this year.
During the next academic year, admission quotas at universities and colleges are expected to increase by 7 per cent over this year.
