VietNamNet Bridge – More than 100 cows selected from nearly 7,000 cows in Moc Chau plateau in the northern mountainous province of Son La participated in a contest for dairy cows last weekend.
Below are pictures of this special contest, which has become an annual event in Moc Chau, the land of dairy cows in Vietnam.

Before the final round, a “competitor” delivered a calf. According to organizers,
this was a lucky omen.

In the finals, the jury assessed competitors in terms of conformation, milk
productivity, etc. Competitors had to perform before hundreds of audiences.

Each competitor had to walk two circles on the stage to show off their beauty.

Some competitors were very confident.

But some of them were stubborn and didn’t want to perform.

Miss Cow 2009.

The Miss Cow is an annual event in Moc Chau, held in October.


Though it rained, the competition gathered many people.

The Miss Cow title belongs to a 680kg cow of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Chien.
During the final day, this “contestant” yielded 34kg of milk. The bonus for the winner
is up to 46 million dong ($2300).

Nguyen Dang Vang (with glasses), Vice Chair of the National Assembly’s
Committee for Science, Technology and Environment shared the joy with the winner.
