VietNamNet Bridge – On Tuesday, police found the body of Nguyen Hong Lam, chairman of Hanoi’s Quoc Oai District People’s Committee, who had been missing since December 26.

The body was found in a house in Alley 279 Hoang Mai Street, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi.

An official from Nghia Huong Commune, where Lam lived, confirmed to Vietnam News Agency the body was that of the missing district head.

According to the Hanoi criminal police division, at 9pm on December 25, Lam drove a black Toyota Camry out of the committee’s headquarters. Half an hour later, he parked his car at a parking lot at No 113 on Tran Duy Hung Street in Cau Giay District, which was under the management of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Lam then walked to Alley 115 on the same street. By 9:55pm, he was moving towards Den Lu Lake in Hoang Mai District, some 13.5 kilometres from the parking lot.

Until the body was detected, Lam’s family was unable to contact him.

Nguyen Van Tho, the Party Secretary of Quoc Oai District, said Lam had displayed no abnormal behaviour before his mysterious disappearance.
