The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chairman of the Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC Mr. Nguyen Hong Hien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MobiFone and Mr. Ricky Corker, Chief Customer Experience Office and Mr. Tommi Uitto, President Mobile Networks of Nokia.

Under the newly-signed agreement, Nokia will support MobiFone with 5G technologies and cloud infrastructure; cooperate in defining medium to long-term network evolution roadmap, share experiences in 5G deployment and applying technologies; provide Fixed-wireless Access service on the 5G platform and explore business opportunities for enterprises using Nokia’s advanced technology for industries.

“Looking at the long-term cooperation relationship between MobiFone and Nokia, we have always made great efforts to promote and enhance each other's strengths for mutual development. MobiFone expects that this cooperation agreement will help upgrade the relationship between the two parties, MobiFone - Nokia, not only in network development but also in the partnership in providing solutions for enterprise businesses," said MobiFone Chairman Nguyen Hong Hien at the signing ceremony.

Mr. Ricky Corker - Chief Customer Experience Officer at Nokia said: “We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Mobifone to collaborate on 5G technologies and help them accelerate the launch of commercial 5G services. We are confident this partnership will help grow the 5G market for MobiFone and benefit consumers and enterprise customers in Vietnam.”

CMSC Chairman Nguyen Hoang Anh said: “We believe that the cooperation between MobiFone and Nokia will create favorable conditions for investment and trade exchange between Vietnam and Finland in particular and Vietnam - EU in general, helping MobiFone attain more meaningful achievements, and at the same time, this is also an opportunity for Nokia to develop more market share in the coming time. The CMSC is waiting for positive changes after the signing of this cooperation agreement.”

Vietnam has identified the 5th generation mobile technology, or 5G, as not only a technology for super-high-speed data transmission, but also a key to accelerating digital transformation process in many industries and fields, especially the infrastructure foundation to promote economic development.

Therefore, the digital economy and digital transformation are considered to be the driving force and "platform" for 5G development. With massive demand for network equipment, and especially for terminal equipment, the decisive demand of network safety and security, the enormous demand for applications, will create an infinite market for Vietnamese and foreign technology companies.

The cooperation with Nokia is expected to open up new opportunities, giving MobiFone motivation to successfully complete its core tasks in 5/6 national digital transformation platform groups, including: digital infrastructure platform, digital government platform, digital transformation platform for health - education - culture - society, finance - banking - business platform, agriculture - transport platform - logistics - industry and trade. Thereby, MobiFone could be ready to join the Vietnamese telecommunications industry in realizing the goal of being "in the top leading group of developing 5G and 6G networks in the world".
