VietNamNet Bridge – No need to have TV set or laptop; one just needs a smart phone to watch TV everywhere and every time. Using smart phones with 3G connection to watch TV has become prevalent, since Mobile Internet has been upgraded to the record speed of 21 Mbps.

The 3G mobile TV wave
Smart phones have become smarter every day. Especially, they can serve as mobile
TVs allowing users to watch TVs at any time and anywhere.
The mobile phone televisionization has become more popular among the youth.
Nguyen Thu Thuy, a university student in Hanoi said that she was away from Hanoi
for a couple of weeks for the military practice period, but she still could
watch the next episodes of the favorite drama with her smart phone.
The Mobile TV service by VinaPhone network operators allowed her to watch TV
every evening, while she did not have any problem with the network quality. Thuy
said that with the smart phone and 3G connection, she can watch TV or video
clips at any time she wants.
Hoang Tung, a student of the Transport University, said he mostly watched the
football matches of the EU championship on his smart phone. The only
disadvantage of watching football matches on smart phone instead of TV was that
the smart phone did not have a large screen. Meanwhile, Tung said there’s no
complaint about the network quality.
Tung, like many other young people, who always try to get adapted to the new
high-technology products, believe that it’s very cheap to watch TVs with smart
phones. Meanwhile, no need to worry about unexpected power cut, or about the
disturbance to other people.
Smart phones have been heating up the mobile phone market, because they are
getting smarter and more attractive to dynamic people, especially the youth.
3G wave upgraded every day
The three biggest mobile phone operators – VinaPhone, MobiFone and Viettel all
have provided the services allowing to watch video clips and TVs on smart
phones.
In 2011, the revenue from non-telephone services of telcos accounted for 30-40
percent of the total revenue, partially contributed by the providing of the
features associated with 3G technology, such as chatting, mailing, searching for
ways and watching TV.
A big network operator has revealed that the number of subscribers using Mobile
TV service has increased by 50 percent over the last two years, while the figure
was double in the last European football championship.
The 3G service market is expected to witness a boom in the next few years, since
people can see a lot of advantages with the services: the terminal devices are
getting popular and diversified for choices, the service quality meets high
standards, and especially, the package service fees are even lower than ADSL
services.
The only thing that makes people still hesitant to use 3G services is that they
are not sure about the wave quality. If the 3G wave of the service providers is
not strong enough, clients would not be able to watch TVs or video clips, since
the good high resolution images always have pretty heavy capacity.
Therefore, upgrading services is the thing mobile phone network operators are
striving for.
A senior executive of VinaPhone said the network operator has utilized 3.5G to
satisfy the customers’ demand for watching high quality video or HD standard
films on mobile phones. With HSPA+ which is equal to 3.5G, the Mobile Internet
transmission line now has the maximum downlink speed of up to 21 Mbps and uplink
speed of 5.76 Mbps which is triple the speed at the very beginning phase, while
the wave has covered 90 percent of the population. In principle, the 2Mbps is
enough to watch normal video clips.
