A mock-up train on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway in Hanoi was displayed for public comment at the Giang Vo Exhibition Centre on October 29.

A model of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong elevated railway is on display to allow people to give their feedback, General Director of Railway Project Management Unit Le Kim Thanh said.

The exhibition, which opens today, will run at the Giang Vo Exhibition Centre till November 30.

Thanh said the public feedback would be taken into consideration and the design revised, if necessary, by the management unit, the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractor and manufacturer making the commercial trains in accordance with the approved technical standards and requirements of the trains.

Thirteen trains will run on the railway line, with four carriages each.

The average speed of the train will be about 35km per hour, with a maximum speed of 80km per hour. The trains will be put into operation in the first stage with the frequency of five to six minutes, and then two to three minutes per trip in the future. The train can carry a maxium of 28,500 passengers per hour per direction.

The train will be decorated with an image of Khue Van Cac (the pavilion of the constellation of literature) in Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (the Temple of Literature), a symbol of Ha Noi and its body is made of stainless steel.

The trains are being manufactured by China's Beijing Subway Rolling Stock Equipment Ltd.

The Cat Linh – Ha Dong urban railway project began in November 2011, and was expected to be completed by the end of 2014, with the trials set to begin in 2015 and the official launch in 2016. However, land clearance issues and capital management have delayed the project's completion till the middle of 2016.

The Railway Project Management Unit, under the Ministry of Transport, plans to buy 13 Chinese trains for the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway project. The train is painted in green with the Temple of Literature as its symbol. The 79-metre long train has 4 passenger cars.  It is 2.8 metre wide Chairs are made of composite.  Information mapping is available in passenger cars.
