VietNamNet Bridge – High schools throughout HCM City plan to admit 97,222 students to the 10th grade for the upcoming school year, according to the city Department of Education and Training.

Ninth grade students were admitted to schools without taking admission exams in districts 2, 6, 9, Thu Duc, Binh Tan, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, Can Gio and Hoc Mon.
The city's remaining high schools will organise admission exams for ninth graders who want to enrol in those schools.
In addition, students who complete the ninth grade can apply to attend city vocational schools.
At a meeting between the department and People's Committee held on Wednesday, city officilas said they would build 1,080 more new classrooms in order to meet demand.
Hua Ngoc Thuan, deputy chairman of the People's Committee, asked to speed up the building progress of Nguyen Thi Dinh School for the gifted in gymnastics.
Thuan also required high schools for the gifted to admit qualified ninth graders who live in different localities.
Priority is given to students who live in the localities where the schools are located.
At the meeting, the department also presented a plan to admit students to the first grade and sixth grade.
Like last school year, all six-year-old children will be admitted to the city's primary schools.
Primary schools will not be allowed to enrol children who do not live in the same localities.
There are 102,119 six-year-old children in HCM City, according to city authorities.
The secondary schools in the city will not hold admission exams for students who complete the fifth grade.
They will enrol the students based on their marks for the second semester in the fifth grade.
Secondary schools are expected to admit a total of 92,714 students to the sixth grade.
