Singaporeans are losing the battle of the bulge 10.8 percent of the population being obese, local media reported on Monday.

The survey, which was conducted once every six years by the Health Promotion Board (HPB), blamed the growing rate of obesity on two factors Singaporeans are not exercising enough, and they are not eating properly.
While the obesity figure is not as high as in other developed countries, such as the United States, while one in three are obese, the HPB still sees cause for concern.
Singaporeans obesity trend a 0.65 percent increase a year is similar to what is seen in the United States and Britain 30 years ago.
