According to deputy head of the Viet Nam Badminton Federation Nguyen Phuong Nam, the level of this year’s tournament will be upgraded from Grand Prix to World Tour Super 100, following the standards of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

The players will compete in five categories, namely men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, with total prize money of US$75,000 on offer.

This tournament will feature several high-ranking players, including Brazil’s Ygor Coelho (world No 34), Malaysia’s Daren Liew (No 41) and Vietnamese Nguyen Tien Minh (No 55) in the men’s singles, No 12 Savaka Takahashi from Japan in the women’s singles and duo Avako Sakuramoto and Yukiko Takahata in the women’s doubles (No 14).

The event is a prestigious tournament held annually in Vietnam. Its results are included in the BWF ranking system.
