Figures from the CAAV also showed that Vietnam Airlines topped the list with 249 delayed flights, followed by VietJet Air with 175 delayed flights, and Jetstar Pacific with 76 delayed flights.
Late arrival was the main reason for the delayed flights, accounting for 70 per cent. Technical malfunctions, poor service at airports and flight management problems comprised 26.8 per cent of the delayed flight causes. Poor weather conditions also contributed to the problem.
According to airlines, heavy rain and strong winds at HCM City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport on April 28 forced the postponement of all domestic flights to Cam Ranh and Da Nang airports and international flights to Phnom Penh.
Statistics from the CAAV showed that about 3,200 flights were operated during the six-day holiday, a 30 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. VietJet Air added more than 1,000 flights and Vietnam Airlines added 2,330 flights to accommodate the increasing numbers of passengers.
