Giang was the Vietnamese ambassador to Morocco from 2013-2016.

Moroccan Ambassador to Viet Nam, Azzeddine Farhane, conferred the order on behalf of the king during a reception held at the envoy’s residence in Ha Noi.

“Ambassador Pham Truong Giang played an important role in strengthening the friendly and cordial relations between Morocco and Viet Nam, by participating in and organising the 3rd session of the joint co-operation commission and the 4th session of political consultations and cementing strong bilateral agreements between our two countries,” Farhane said.

These included agreements on tourism and co-operation between Moroccan export promotion agency Maroc Export and Viet Nam’s VietTrade, as well as co-operation between the Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies and Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, and an MoU on airway services.

Giang said that for several years now, he has witnessed strong growth in bilateral ties between Viet Nam and Morocco in all fields including politics, economy, commerce and culture. The two countries have held exchange visits by delegations at different levels, signed and brought into force a number of agreements of cooperation and partnership, and increased the bilateral trade volumes.

The Vietnamese diplomat also said that during his tenure, he had the opportunity to witness great achievements that the Moroccan people had gained under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. These include an economic growth rate of 4.5 per cent, increased living standards and well-built infrastructure that would facilitate Morocco’s growth.

Giang pledged that he would continue to work for further development of the relationship between Viet Nam and Morocco.
