The movie "Cha cong con" (Father and Son) directed/scripted by Vietnamese director Luong Dinh Dung will join the 90th Annual Oscar Academy Awards.
"Father and Son" is adapted from a novel of the same name written in 1995 by director Luong Dinh Dung. It tells about a boy named Ca (fish), son of a poor fisherman. They live in a small fishing village. The kid who has always dreamed of touching the clouds falls a severe illness and his father whisks him away to go seeing everything he wishes before his death.
The movie was filmed in cities and provinces throughout the country, including Ha Giang, Quang Binh, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in 80 days with the participation of People’s Artists-cameraman Ly Thai Dung, Korean musician Lee Dong Jun and French film editor Julie Béziau
The film has been honored with a number of awards at prestigious international film festivals around the world, including the Best Picture Award at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival 2017, Best Foreign Feature and Special Jury Award for Outstanding Cinematography at the 26th Arizona International Film Festival in Tucson, Arizona; the award for the best storyline at the 15th Boston International Film Festival from April 13 – 17 in Massachusetts; Best Cinematography award at the 17th Milano International Film Festival of Italy.
