In the letter sent to the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) on November 24, a day after the Mrs. World 2013 ended, Mrs. Kaman Cheng - Head of the Mrs. World organizing committee of the host country - apologized to the MoCST, the Performing Arts Agency, Vietnamese people, contestant Tran Thi Quynh and judge Kim Hong.

Cheng explained that because of carelessness, the country-name band producer misspelled the words “Mrs. Vietnam” to “Mrs. VietNem”. “This is an unintended error and we do not mean to offend anyone,” she wrote.

The Chinese organizers also expressed: "We beg for your forgiveness. We are really sorry for the unintentional mistake. We will fix the mistake on our media."

The Mrs. World China organizing committee assisted the international organizing committee of Mrs. World 2013 pageant in holding this competition in China.

After returning to Vietnam, Quynh submitted an explanation letter to the MoCST and the Performing Arts Agency. In the document, Quynh, 27, said during the competition, the organizers gave contestants the bands with correct country names. But the final night, they delivered new bands, in which the country names of four contestants were wrong, including Vietnam.

Quynh said that she received the wrong band only several seconds before she moved to the stage so she did not realize the error.

"This really is my fault for not paying careful attention to make this happen. I am very sorry for it and I would like to apologize to the Vietnamese people and the relevant agencies,” Quynh wrote.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan from the Performing Arts Agency, which granted the license for Quynh, said that this week the agency would consider the case to make final decision on the case.

"I think the leaders of the Performing Arts Agency will agree with me about reminding Tran Thi Quynh and the related bodies on this incident. Quynh and other representatives of Vietnam at international beauty contests need to learn from experience when they bear on their shoulders the responsibility to promote Vietnam to the world," he said.
