Ho Ky Minh, vice chairman of the municipal government, on June 27 said that by the end of the year, as many as 15 international airlines will open air services from South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia to Danang, with a total frequency of 90 weekly flights.

Danang City and Vietjet Air had earlier opened five air routes to India and Singapore, Tuoi Tre Online reported.

Since the country fully reopened international air routes, Danang City has welcomed 286 international flights with 35,000 passengers on board , said Minh, adding that on June 24 alone, the city received 120 domestic and international flights, the highest ever since 2019.

The city’s tourism industry has made a strong rebound with a host of tourism products, services and festivals held since the end of the first quarter of 2022. Many tourist destinations have welcomed a large number of visitors, while room occupancy rates in hotels have amounted to up to 75% on weekends on average.

In the first six months of the year, tourism revenue soared by 41% year-on-year.

The rising number of flights and tourists to Danang City showed a good sign of the city’s tourism growth after a two-year suspension induced by the Covid pandemic, according to Minh.
