VietNamNet Bridge – The acclaimed Munich Symphony Orchestra will perform concerts at the Viet Nam National Academy of Music this weekend and at the Ha Noi Opera House next Thursday and Friday as part of events to celebrate Europe Day in Viet Nam.

The orchestra will perform melodies by German composers including Orlando di Lasso, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Felix Mendelssohn.

During the concert held at Ha Noi Opera House the following weekend, Vietnamese musicians from the academy and the Viet Nam National Opera and Ballet Theatre to perform two masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, the Mass in C Major and Fantasy in C Minor for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, under the baton of Philipp Amelung.

Free tickets can be collected from May 6, at Goethe Institute located at 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street.

After the shows in Ha Noi, the orchestra will perform in HCM City on May 11.

The Munich Orchestra has staged numerous solo shows in Germany and around the world. Founded in 1945, the orchestra has recorded music for hundreds of films, including El Cid by Miklos Rozsa, Jerry Goldsmith's score for The Wind and the Lion, Christopher Young's music for Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Victor Young's score for The Brave One.

In the 1990sz, the orchestra also performed the soundtrack for episodes of the television series The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones.
