VietNamNet – A music event to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam (September 21, 1973 – September 21, 2013) will take place at the Van Ho Exhibition Centre in Hanoi on March 2.
The event, held by the Japan Foundation and CAMA Vietnam, will gather the participation of the internationally famous Japanese jazz group SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS and the local jazz-funk group Nga Tu Mat Dien, and GiGi Mix DJ.
SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS combines world class musicianship with the coolest of sounds and attitude into a heady mix of jazz, fun and entertainment. Their brand of jazz is unconventional and designed to break down barriers, whether they be conventions of genre, cultural barriers or stolid audience-performer relationships.
The quintet Nga Tu Mat Dien has been playing shows in Hanoi’s capital for more than 15 years and has a tight enough sound to prove it. Keeping the party going between bands will be GiGi Mix, one of Hanoi’s most entertaining DJs.
The event is a part of activities to welcome the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Year 2013.
