VietNamNet Bridge – A new music programme featuring young performers kicked off this week to entertain students, workers and others who could not pay for tickets to live concerts.

Pop star My Linh, her staff and the band Anh Em Records are the creators of the programme, called Young Hit Young Beat, that will not only produce albums but also organise live shows in major cities in the country.

The producers, including talented composers Huy Tuan, Anh Quan and Quoc Long, will release their first album Vol 1 Nhung Ngay He Ruc Ro (Bright Summer Days, Vol 1) this month.

Up-and-coming singers, such as Cat Tuong, Nhat Thuy, Hoang Ton, Anna Truong, Yanbi and Hanh Nguyen, have been invited to sing on the recordings.

Young pop stars Uyen Linh and Van Mai Huong will also perform.

The album will have 10 songs in pop, dance, R&B and electronic music.

Highlights include Om Chat Lay Em (Hold Me Tightly), a song written by Ha Noi-based rapper Yanbi, 23, in cooperation with his friend, fashion model and singer Hanh Nguyen. Both have been involved in the underground music scene for years.

Yanbi (real name To Minh Vu), a student at the Ha Noi University of Business and Technology, began his amateur career five years ago.

In 2011, he and rapper Tang Quoc Anh (Mr T) composed Nothing in Your Eyes and the song ended up on the top hit list for the year, voted by users of an online music forum. His songs are popular with both critics and fans.

In her interview with The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports & Culture) newspaper, veteran singer Linh, one of the album's producers, said: "Ten songs in Vol 1 Nhung Ngay He Ruc Ro were selected from more than 100 songs from different sources that are available to download online."

"We decided to work with Yanbi after listening to his song demo Om Chat Lay Em performed by Hoang Ton. We saw something new in his music," she added.

"To perfect Om Chat Lay Em in the new version, we invited Hanh Nguyen, the work's co-writer and composer, to perform the song. Her voice was very interesting and had good quality, even though she did not study at a music school," she said.

Linh said that after releasing Vol 1 Nhung Ngay He Ruc Ro, her group would continue to produce albums of different styles to meet the tastes of young audiences.

"We wanted to support young singers to develop their professional careers and create a bridge between them and fans," she added.

A live show to popularise the new music programme and an album will be held in HCM City on July 27.

The producers promise the concert will be staged for students and workers who lack facilities but love music.

If the show is successful, they will tour other cities.

Nguyen Van Chung, a third-year student at HCM City Polytechnic University, said: "My friends and I have heard about the music programme Young Hit Young Beat and the live show Vol 1 Nhung Ngay He Ruc Ro, and we appreciate this effort. We hope the programme's producers and their singers will reflect our tastes."
