Tran Hanh Phuc's confidence and intelligence during the final round impressed two members of the jury, People's Artist Hoang Dung and Meritorious Artist Lan Huong, who both work in the theatre.

His performance also received support from the audience at HCM City Television's Studio.

The 25-year-old man said he would try his best to become a professional TV host in the future.

Nguyen Le To Loan of Vung Tau Province, a public relations officer, was the runner-up in the competition.

Although she has a sweet voice, Loan lost confidence while talking to singer Kasim Hoang Vu, one of the contest's guests.

Two contestants tied for third place, Mac Le Binh and Phung Hong Thanh, both students at the HCM City University of Law.

Binh also won a prize for the most favourite contestant.

Duong Thu Thuy of Thanh Hoa Province received the prize for the most emotive voice.

The MC Competition has been held annually since 2004 by HCM City Television with the aim of finding new MCs for TV programmes. This year's competition attracted 500 candidates from across the country.
