Hanoi municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to fine musician Ngoc Dai VND30 million (USD1,430) for illegally issuing and distributing CD.

Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Department of Performing Arts said, “We’ve been informed about the fine for Ngoc Dai last week. The musician has admitted that the production of and issuance of Thang Mo 1 CD was illegal.”

On May 22, Inspectorate of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a meeting with Ngoc Dai.

The investigative agency condemned the illegal publication and distribution of the CD based on Decree 75 on administrative punishment for violations in the ‘cultural industry’.

Ngoc Dai was requested to stop promoting the CD and he had to admit that he was wrong to release the CD.

Thang Mo 1 (The Village Herald 1) CD was issued in early May without getting any license. Ngoc Dai’s nine-track CD includes songs entitled 'Discount sex', 'Vagina 8x'. The album also includes lyrics such as 'let's fuck'.

Ngoc Dai had ever planned to issue an additional 1,000 CDs to meet the demand.

The Department of Art Performing has required departments of culture, sports and tourism to withdraw the released CDs.
