VietNamNet Bridge – A series of activities will be held during the long-awaited culture and tourism week in Da Lat City of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, from December 27-31.

Major events will include the fifth Da Lat Flower Festival, a ceremony to launch the 2014 Central Highlands-Da Lat National Tourism Year, and a festival to mark the 120th founding anniversary of Da Lat, which was built by the French in the late 19th century and is imprinted with French architecture and culture.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Da Lat municipal People’s Committee are undertaking last-minute preparation for the event to introduce local and foreign visitors to Da Lat – a pretty, graceful and developing city, said Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee Doan Van Viet at a December 10 press conference in Hanoi to announce the event.

A carnival dedicated to flowers and horticulture – a key economic sector of the region, will begin the flower festival on December 28.

The event will include an art and music performance, highlighting the diverse culture of ethnic groups living in the Central Highlands region.

An exhibition on the natural beauty and tourist attractions of Da Lat and the region will also be part of the event.
