VietNamNet Bridge – National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung bid farewell to the German Ambassador to Viet Nam, Rolf Peter Gottfried Schulzen and Irish Ambassador, Maeve Collins before they ended their terms in Viet Nam yesterday, Aug 17.
To German diplomat, Hung said the ties between the two countries had continuously developed, with several varied projects carried out, particularly involving education, training and cultural exchanges.
He also stated that Viet Nam supported Germany in strengthening ties with ASEAN nations.
The diplomat said German members of parliament had shown their interest in boosting the relations with Viet Nam.
Germany is the biggest investor to Viet Nam of European nations, with nearly 200 enterprises doing business in the country.
To Irish diplomat, Hung also praised the good terms between the two countries. He expected the ambassador would continue contributing to the bilateral relations and support Viet Nam in co-operating with the European Community.
In return, Collins said Ireland would soon kick off a programme to aid socio-economic development in some disadvantaged areas in Viet Nam.
