National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has expressed his wish for closer ties between the Vietnamese and Japanese legislatures as well as continued mutual support at regional and global forums.

Meeting Vice Speaker of the House of Councilors of Japan Koshiishi Azuma in Hanoi on December 15, Chairman Hung thanked the effective support that Japan has provided for Vietnam, especially since the establishment of the extensive strategic cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.

The Vietnamese Party, State and NA continually value and do their utmost to foster the friendship and cooperation between the two States and peoples, he said.

Azuma, in response, expressed his wish that the two legislatures will facilitate all-level visits to share legislation experience and boost people-to-people exchange, particularly among young generations.

He pledged to exert himself to promote Vietnam-Japan links upon his return.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the leap in political, diplomatic, economic and trade engagements as well as people-to-people exchange over the past time.

The two countries shared the same position on boosting bilateral relationship for the sake of peace and cooperation in the region and the world.

Earlier, Koshiishi Azuma had successful talks with Vice NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Politburo member welcomes Japanese Upper House leader

Vietnam and Japan should intensify the exchange of parliamentarians and high-ranking delegations, and share the same viewpoint on the maintenance of peace and stability for development in Asia-Pacific, suggested Politburo member To Huy Rua.

Rua, who is President of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, made the suggestion while receiving Vice Speaker of the House of Councilors of Japan Koshiishi Azuma in Hanoi on December 15.

He affirmed that with its role and duties, the group has coordinated closely with the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance to put forth numerous initiatives, contributing to the development of the two countries’ relations.

He proposed the Deputy Speaker maintain his support for the further consolidation of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, parliaments and peoples.

Azuma informed the host of the outcomes of his talks with National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, while highlighting the growing traditional friendship and cooperation between Japan and Vietnam.

He expressed his hope that the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group continues acting as a bridge connecting the two peoples, and affirmed that he will do his utmost to improve the two legislative bodies’ relations.
