NA Chairman to attend world parliament forum
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung will attend the 4th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament to be held in New York during an official visit to the US from August 31 to September 9.
The trip is being made at the invitation of the Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Saber Chaudhury, US Senator Patrick Leahy, Speaker of the US House of Representatives John Boehner and US Senator John Mc Cain, according to the NA's External Relations Committee.
VN, Laos step up corruption fight
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the Commission for Inspection of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee to closely co-ordinate and regularly share experience in inspections and anti-corruption work.

At a reception for Bunthoong Chitmany, head of the LPRP Central Committee's Commission for Inspection in Ha Noi yesterday, August 25, the Party chief also urged the two sides to assist each other in personnel training.
He said the Party, State and people of Viet Nam would work with their Lao counterparts to preserve and nurture the special solidarity between the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region and the world at large.
Congratulating Laos on the major achievements the country has made in recent years, the Party said he hoped that under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao people would meet the targets set at the ninth National Party Congress and successfully organise the 10th National Party Congress.
He also used the occasion to inform his guest about Viet Nam's preparations for the upcoming 12th National Party Congress.
Bunthoong Chitmany briefed his host on the situation in Laos, preparations for the 10th National Party Congress and the outcome of talks with the CPVCC's Commission for Inspection and the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam.
He promised to work closely with the two Vietnamese agencies to implement high-level agreements between the two countries.
Earlier, the Lao delegation held talks with delegates from the CPVCC's Commission for Inspection, during which the two sides reviewed their collaboration and discussed co-operation orientations for the future. They also shared experience in inspections, discipline and anti-corruption efforts.
Vietnam hopes for EP’s continued support to FTA with EU
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung had a meeting with Chairman of the European Parliament (EP)’s International Trade Committee Bernd Lange in Hanoi on August 25, asking for the agency’s continued support to the signing of the Vietnam-EU free trade agreement.

He highly valued effective contributions that Lange has made to the growth of the relationship between the EP and Vietnam’s legislative body, as well as the progress of the Vietnam-EU FTA negotiations that have been officially concluded.
He also expressed his hope that Lange and the EP will continue their assistance for the early signing of the deal.
On his part, Lange spoke highly of the signing of various agreements between Vietnam and the EU as well as the two sides’ efforts to approve the FTA.
He said he believes that the two sides should speed up and diversify their cooperation mechanisms for better implementation of goals set for the agreement.
He also pledged that his committee will closely supervise the realisation of bilateral deals, including the FTA, while backing the agreements for the deeper bilateral partnership.
NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed that Vietnam has actively built a legal system, enhanced the government’s management capacity and improving enterprises’ competence to optimise the effectiveness of the FTA.
The Vietnam’s NA will also do its utmost so that the FTA as well as the framework Partnership and Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam and the EU benefit peoples and businesses of both sides.
Viet Nam welcomes Kazakhstani delegation
A delegation from the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan is on an official visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
Head of the Party's Commission for Foreign Relations, Hoang Binh Quan, welcomed the delegation and praised the country's achievements in socio-economic development.
Quan said Viet Nam considered Kazakhstan an important partner in Asia and expressed hope that the two countries would continue to build on a long tradition of friendship.
Viet Nam wishes to bolster legislative ties with Japan
National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan held talks with Speaker of the House of Representative of the Japan's parliament Tadamori Oshima in Tokyo on August 25, during which she proposed that the two sides increase delegation exchanges to foster legislative ties.
Ngan, who is on her ongoing visit to Japan to the World Assembly for Woman 2015, expressed her delight at the growing partnership between the two countries as well as the two legislative bodies.
She vowed that Viet Nam always pursues an active and proactive bilateral and multilateral external policy, contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
Tadamori Oshima pledged that he will do his utmost for the stronger ties between the two parliaments.
He revealed that he plans to meet National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on the sidelines of the World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments slated for September this year.
Regarding the East Sea issue, both sides agreed that the matter should be dealt with through peaceful measures in conformity with international law, contributing to the development and prosperity in the world.
Also on August 25, Ngan had a meeting with Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Hideaki Momichi, during which she spoke highly of the role that the JICA plays in Vietnam's economic development.
She suggested that JICA continue assisting Viet Nam in building infrastructure system to serve the country's industrialisation and modernisation process.
The NA Vice Chairwoman also highly valued the programme to give children and maternal health assistance in Viet Nam, proposing that the agency expand the programme to all 63 localities across Vietnam.
During her stay, Ngan visited a number of major Japanese businesses.
Deputy PM welcomes Japanese guest
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc gave a reception in Ha Noi on August 25 for Japan's Parliamentary Vice Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Youji Mutou, who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.
The Deputy PM described the visit by Youji Mutou and his entourage as a vivid demonstration of the fine friendship between the two countries.
He noted with delight the strong development in the bilateral ties, especially since the two countries elevated their relationship to a new level of the Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia.
Viet Nam wishes to ceaselessly deepen the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Japan, considering this a top priority in the country's foreign policy, the official said.
Japan is Viet Nam's leading economic partner, he said, adding that cooperation in official development assistance (ODA), trade and investment has effectively contributed to the country's socio-economic development.
Deputy PM Phuc stressed the Party and Government of Viet Nam attach importance to inspection work, complaint and petition settlement and the fight against corruption, saying these tasks are significant in building a professional and modern administration.
Hailing the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam and Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the official suggested the Japanese side continue to assist Viet Nam in organising training courses for its officials, helping improve their capacity in inspection and administrative complaint settlement.
In response, Youji Mutou briefed his host on the content of his talks with the Vietnamese Government Inspector.
He pledged to do his utmost to contribute to enhancing Viet Nam-Japan relationship in all areas, matching the two countries' mutual interest and their people's aspirations.
