VietNamNet Bridge – Many National Assembly (NA) deputies showed their concern about tensions in the East Sea at group discussions, while the government’s report to the NA does not discuss much about this content.
According to the report, the general comment of NA deputies is defense and security is maintained, bringing peace to the country. In the coming time, it is needed to strengthen diplomatic tasks to strengthen national security and defense. "Well handling of the East Sea issue are long-term goals for sustainable development in economic and social aspects of," the report stressed.
NA deputies suggested the government to send the latest report on the East Sea to the NA so deputies can promptly report information to voters.
In the long term, deputies suggested taking drastic measures in the East Sea issue to protect islands and territorial integrity. They also proposed to develop marine economy and give more support to fishermen.
Enhancing facilities for defense - security, improving the military capabilities of the country by combining defense with economics, with economic development projects of localities is also suggested.
Some deputies also noted that relevant agencies should pay special attention to relations with neighboring countries, making good defense under the Politburo’s resolution 28, and informing people of the views of the Party and the State in the field of defense and security.
Before the NA’s session, HCM City voters suggested the state to take more drastic moves, step up public diplomacy, firmly maintain maritime sovereignty, enhance budget for national security, promote marine economic development and give more support for fishermen. The maritime patrol force should be organized in time to protect property and life for fishermen.
