Earlier, at its meeting on January 31, the Party Central Committee agreed to allow Anh to cease holding the membership of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee in the 13th tenure based on the Party and State’s existing rules and the officials’ personal wishes.
Anh was a high-ranking official of the Party and State and was entrusted with some important leadership positions by the Party Central Committee and Politburo. As Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee and Minister of Industry and Trade in the 2016 - 2021 tenure, he exerted efforts in leading and directing activities of the industry and trade sector to obtain significant results.
However, he bore the political responsibility of a leader for letting many violations occur at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and many officials and Party members break the law and thus, be subject to criminal, Party, and administrative punishments. Deeply aware of his responsibility towards the Party and people, he submitted a proposal to cease holding positions, stop working, and retire./.VNA
