He will compete against rivals in the world junior top 10, including Luz Orlando (Brazil, No 2), Taylor Fritz (US, No 3), Akira Santillan (Japan, No 8), and Yongseong Chung (South Korea, No 9).

The Vietnamese star will also play in the boys' doubles category, as he pairs with regular partner Alberto Lim of the Philippines.

Recently, the duo won titles, including a gold medal at the 25th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup in March and another at the Asian Closed Junior Championship last month.

The 56o Trofeo Bonfiglio is of the Grade A leveler of the International Tennis Federation, in which players compete on clay court.

After Milan, Nam will fly to Sweden to practise for a short time before taking part in a competition for juniors at the second Grand Slam of the year, the French Open in Paris.

In June, he will join his teammates to compete at the SEA Games in Singapore.

Nam has leapt 190 places to 1256th in the latest ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

His progress is attributable to his earning ticket to the quarterfinal of the F2 Futures tennis tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior rankings, Nam has still stood 14th with 689.38 points. With his current position, he has been named No 11 seed in the boys’ singles event at the 2015 Roland Garros Junior French Championships, to take place in Paris from May 30 to June 6.
