Nam, of Becamex Binh Duong, became the tournament’s number one seed yesterday after beating Hanoian Nguyen Dac Tien 6-1, 6-1 at the Hai Dang Tennis Club in Tay Ninh Province.

In his quarter-final match, Tuan saw off Lam Hoang Nam of Kien Giang 6-1, 6-3.

The other semi will see veteran Do Minh Quan from HCM City and No 2 seed Trinh Linh Giang of Becamex Binh Duong face each other.

In the doubles category, Nam and his partner Huynh Minh Thinh withdrew from the semi-final match after the latter suffered an injury, leaving their rivals Quan and Le Quoc Khanh through to the final.

They will play Huynh Chi Khuong and Tran Thanh Hoang of the Military, who beat Bui Chi Nguyen and Nguyen Anh Thang of the hosts 3-6, 6-4, 10-4, for the gold medal.

On the women’s side, Tiffany Linh Nguyen of Becamex Binh Duong, the top seeding player, will face Savanna Ly Nguyen of the Military in the first last-four match. While Tran Thuy Thanh Truc will be against No 2 seed Sy Boi Ngoc in an all-HCM City meet.

The women’s doubles final will be a clash between Dang Thi Hanh and Hoang Thi Ha of Hai Duong versus Nguyen Tu Kim Ngan and Savanna of the Military.
