VietNamNet Bridge – Ly Hoang Nam eased into the final of the National Tennis Championship yesterday (Aug 29) in Da Nang City when his rival Truong Thanh Giang retired.

Nam of Becamex Binh Duong raced through the semi-final’s first set with a 6-1 win. When the second set started Giang of HCM City asked to withdraw as he was exhausted.

The hot weather also strongly affected Nguyen Dac Tien of Ha Noi as he also could not finish his match against Hoang Thanh Trung of Police in the other semis. Tien retired when it was 6-7 (4), 7-5, 5-1 for him because of cramps.

Nam will play Trung in the final today.

The men’s doubles final will see Nam in pair with teammate Nguyen Van Phuong will play Giang Thanh and Quoc Khanh of HCM City.

The women’s final will see defending champion Tran Thi Tam Hao versus Phan Thi Thanh Binh of the host.

Thanh Binh and Dan Thi won the women’s doubles beating Thanh Truc and Boi Ngoc of HCM City 6-1, 6-2.

Quoc Khanh and Tam Hao took the mixed doubles gold medal after defeating 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 Thanh Hoang and Kim Ngan of the Military.
