VietNamNet Bridge – National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung arrived in Phnom Penh yesterday (June 10) to pay tribute to the late President of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the Senate, Chea Sim.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung pays tribute to the late President of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the Senate, Chea Sim. 

 

 

He was accompanied by Chairman of the NA Committee for External Affairs, Tran Van Hang, Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Vice Secretary of HCM City's Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, Le Hoang Quan, Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General, Nguyen Chi Vinh, and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General, Bui Quang Ben.

Senior officials from Vietnamese ministries, departments, and sectors along with representatives from the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Association also participated in the Vietnamese delegation to pay tribute to the deceased at his residence.

The top Vietnamese legislator expressed his deep condolences over the death of Chea Sim. He wrote in the funeral book that Viet Nam had lost a close and sincere friend who had made significant contributions to cementing and developing the traditional solidarity, friendship and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries' Parties, States and peoples.

Earlier, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan offered their sympathy to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, the CPP's Central Committee, the Cambodian National Assembly, the Royal Government of Cambodia and the National Council of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia.

Vietnamese condolences

Chairman Hung has met with Cambodian National Assembly President Heng Samrin in Phnom Penh.

The Cambodian host thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people for their sympathies.

Saying he was pleased with the development of bilateral ties in all fields, Heng Samrin expressed his gratitude for the valuable support of the Vietnamese Party, State and people to Cambodia.

Both leaders agreed to maintain and consolidate the two countries' time-honoured friendship and all-round cooperation for the interest of their people and to assure continued peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
