VietNamNet Bridge – Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh has discussed future co-operation between Viet Nam and Russia during a five-day official trip.

During a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, opinions were exchanged on developing strategic relations, especially in the fields of nuclear power and military techniques.

Rogozin confirmed that Russia would strengthen its co-operation on military techniques with Viet Nam and help in the construction of Ninh Thuan No1 nuclear-power plant.

Minh also held talks with the first Vice-Speaker of the State Duma, Ivan Melniko

The two sides agreed to boost exchanges between the youth of both nations to educate them in the traditional relationship.
During a meeting with Minh's counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, the two sides discussed the implementation of solutions to boost strategic and comprehensive co-operation in all fields.

They also attached key importance to co-operation in the energy field and agreed to encourage their oil enterprises to consolidate their co-operation in Viet Nam and Russia – and in other countries.

The two sides agreed on the great potential for using outer space to promote peace.

And they also exchanged opinions on recent developments in Southeast Asia and the East Sea.

They said all the disputes should be settled on the basis of the United Nation Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and voiced their support for efforts towards building the Code of Conduct of the parties on the East Sea (COC).

It was agreed Viet Nam and Russia would support each other in forums such as the United Nations, Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation and ASEAN Regional Forum.
